Just got home from seeing FB:SoD at the IMAX. It was much better and MUCH GAYER than I expected. Jude and Mads did an awesome job. I'm very much missing fandom being on LJ/DW now. Discord and Tumblr are shite for proper discussion. Also missing the crowd of fen here in London who used to go to the films together, read the books together and generally hang out.

Summary:
Severus Snape meets three mysterious witches who give him a choice and a potion. Severus returns to Hogwarts, reconnects with his colleagues and has dealings with Aberforth Dumbledore as well as with Harry Potter who, along with most of his cohort, is going to finish his education at Hogwarts.

I've got not a galleon or even a knut to spare, but I'm going to make an effort to get myself to Lubricus this Autumn, which will be my second ever HP major event after the fantastic Sectus in 2007.
I got tired of checking online unsuccessfully for Shetland fan communities and realised I'd have to set up a DW community myself so here it is:

No idea if anyone else will take it up, but I'm having a go. Stuff on tumblr is ace for this fandom, but I could do with something more discursive. And the Shetland groups on Facebook are dire.
How is it possible there isn't a single Éamon de Valera/Michael Collins fic online? Not that I can find anyway. Been keeping busy in recent months writing Shetland Duncan/Jimmy fanfiction - 3 online at AO3 and another on the way. This has got me doing various other writing and I'm more productive than I have been in about 10 years.
Also been rereading some classic long snarry fics and learning that many have been taken down perhaps never to be seen again.

Stuff I've squeed over since I last posted regularly nine years ago:
- Dr Who (especially the episode 'Amy's Choice'. Ship: Twelve/Clara
- Sherlock. Ship: SH/JW natch.
- Band of Brothers: Nixon/Winters (sorry I really mean no disrespect)
- The Mighty Boosh: Noelian. Still reading this stuff in 2019.
- Flowers: Maurice/Shun
- Still reading Snarry like a demon. I've been meaning for years to get around to writing 2 AU fics: one inspired by the folk song 'The Cruel Ship's Captain' and the other set during the second world war.
- Jed Mercurio's Bodyguard was silly fun and I was totes into David Budd and his ebil tory Julia. This programme was much more enjoyable for following each episode by reading Louisa Mellor's reviews in Den of Geek. She's some kind of genius.
- Shetland: Jimmy/Duncan
I'm writing fic again. The end of series 5 of Shetland was the slashiest thing I've seen in years and I got 2 plotbunnies straightaway. Have written a short bit of fluff I'll post soon. Setting up an account at An Archive of Our Own.
In real life, I met a new fella in 2011 and we married in 2017. Life's good apart from being skint and h8ting my job. Fandom's always been a great escape from an unhappy worklife for me, thank goodness.
